The road so far...

So last night after Jose (who will now be referred to as Pepe) was done with work we went to get food. I had a bacon cheese burger with avocado, mayo, onion, and some odd butter on the bun. It was pretty fantastic I'm not going to lie. I took a picture but please forgive the lack of light I have no flash on my phone and also no editing software since I decided to leave my laptop in the states.

After dinner we hung at the coffee shop for a little while and then went shopping to get some bottled water and a couple other things for food (red bull, Zucaritas, Pan Dulce, tortillas) we also encountered a giant happy birthday button for him to wear at his birthday party on Friday.
In the store which was like a Meijer, target, Wal-Mart type place I had trouble with my debit card. The trouble was that I have (like most Americans) no signature on the back it simply says "See ID". Well those overly cautious Mexican types actually check the ID to match the signatures.
I spent about 10 minutes trying my best to tell this woman in Spanish, English, and an amazingly accurate mixture of the two that the "See ID" on my card was in fact not my signature. That in the us we have problems with people only looking to make sure its signed and not that the signature is legit. I also tried four or five times to tell her that it was fine I would jut pay with cash. She didn't like that idea and refused me.
We did however, after all the fuss and muss, get an Eco-friendly tote bag for our groceries for free! I thought that made us special until i realized everyone got them.
Moral of the story, for those who are wondering, from what I've noticed Mexicans are a pretty trusting group of people for the most part but only in some areas. When it comes to money... they can't afford to take the word of some tattooed white girl with a hole in her face that the card is hers, even if the name matches the ID and the picture on said ID matches the face. So do yourself a favor when traveling, you can leave your "See ID" on the card (but let's face it no one ever really asks anymore anyway) and just sign the card as well... it will save you a lot of hassle, especially if you don't speak much of the language, you don't have to try a game of broken speech charades with the person at the counter.
I've also included 2 more photos from our trip to the store... I'm not sure how the layout will look because this is my first time using the blogger android app so I'm less able to manipulate the html than normal.
One picture is of a t-shirt in this very family friendly place (in Mexico remember...) that reads "I want to watch the world burn"
The other is the escalator to this place. Its like a moving walkway you might see in an airport but at a vertical angle so king of like an escalator but without steps. Amazing... and in the right circumstances could be super fun.
More to come later
