So today marks my second full day in Oaxaca. It's just as amazing as I remember. The sun is shining, everyone is happy and I had a chicken torta for breakfast.
I think coming back here was the best idea ever. It's amazing the things you notice about a place with fresh eyes. The things I've noticed here this time around are so much different from before, or maybe they're the same and I'm different, or maybe everything is the same and I just forgot that I noticed them before.
This morning it was the brightness of the flowers, maybe it's because for the past few months we in the middle west of the u.s. of a have been living in shades of grey that suddenly seeing everything in technicolor is like the best sort of rude awakening.
This time around I'm being smarter about water and I'm hoping to avoid the Montezuma's revenge. I was very proud of the fact that only 1 drop of water may have passed through my mouth in the shower this morning and I'm hoping my stomach can handle that. I have been eating a lot of salsa so maybe the spice will kill the germs.
I will be spending my days at the coffee shop that Jose's friend owns. It's located in the historical center of the city on la calle 5 de mayo se llama (it's called) Coffee Beans. Jose is working in a market and I don't want to sit around and watch him pretend to sell stuff all day so being here is better, I can eaves drop on people talking, watch people walk by and I have a Wi-fi connection. What more could a girl ask for? Coffee you say? There's a gang of that, with food and booze. And unlike stupid America you can smoke in coffee shops here, it's like walking back into the 90's. Sorry Portland, Mexico is a little better.
I had a lot of things I was going to write about in here while on the way to the coffee shop but I have since forgotten. I will however update this bad boy more and hopefully with whatever those things were that I forgot.
