Saturday was world wide non-smoking day. There was a tent and a bunch of people "celebrating" down the street from the cafe.
I walked around a little and took some photos of the people out selling things on the street, normally when I've been here in January these vendors aren't there.
Sina and Fernando showing me brotherly love at the cafe on Saturday night.
Pedro some how got his hands on a wristband they were giving out for smoke free Saturday, this is how we felt about it.
Me in Coffee Beans (that's the name of my friends coffee shop) with some of my boys. Behind me is Pedro, Fernando, and 3 other guys I just met that day.
This is the outside of the first place we stopped while up in the mountains.
Drinking in the mountains for my birthday!
The drive up into the mountains was awesome.
The view from the deck of the first restaurant.
I'm pretty sure that road is the road we came in on, I could be wrong though.
The city seems so far away from where we were!
Me and my boys!
Pedro and Sina.
We had an order of memelitas, and a botana oaxaquena.
More of the view.
It was much brighter out than it appears, it was cloudy but sunny also. I guess maybe there's just more pollution here than I thought.
We ate a lot on Sunday, or rather, the boys ate a lot. Tortilla con queso. Yum.
So, Sina and Fernando found a teeter totter. I kept asking how do you say that thing in Spanish. Turns out the translation is "up and down." Sube y baja. Very creative.
Needless to say the boys played on this damned thing for like 15 minutes. It was amusing.
Pedro had a "sombrero" in the car that he brought in case it was really sunny. Somehow we thought it would be a great idea to see what everyone looked like wearing it. I was the last, and only because it ended up in my hand and I said "what the hell." Fernando started it.
The log cabin looking place we went was complete with the worlds cutest puppy.
Birthday shot! When someone asks do you want a mezcal... the answer is usually no, unless you have enough limes to drink a 2 ounce shot. Then yes is alright to say. I, sadly, ran out of limes.
Antonio in the sombrero.
This is the log cabin looking place that we stopped at for all this fun. It was actually really cool looking. Like a lodge or something.
Next up with the sombrero... Pass it on.
And, I thought I got a better picture but he kept looking away!
Pretty flowers!
The parking lot for this place.
Awww the puppy again.
I'm in the mountains!
Finally Pedro's turn with his own hat!
This was the "outhouse" quite literally. It's times like these I wish I was a boy. It was the grossest place I've ever peed. Well, except maybe the bathroom at Harpos.
It's all fun and games.
Me again.
We're not drunks. We're just really thirsty.
The boys just hanging out.
Carlitos! This is one of my favorite people here and him showing up was a huge surprise for me because I had yet to see him and had no idea Sina had even talked to him. (If you read any of my posts from the last time I was here, one of the days Carlitos made us tacos and they were amazing.)
Sina likes to hide from pictures. There is actually a pretty terrible video of he and I arguing about it.
He can be talked into it if you try hard enough.
More food.
When we got to the creek Pedro had a brilliant idea to put the beer in it to keep them cold. I would love to say it worked but when I pulled a beer out like 20 minutes into us being there it was still piss warm. The good thing: by that point I really didn't even care.
Silly boys!
This is a terrible picture but there was a little miniature waterfall.
My turn with the hat!
Such a professional.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the day.
It was a very magical place. Like something out of a dream.
I was attempting to get a picture of me with the waterfall in the background and almost fell like 4 times so this is it.
Back in the city we went to Pedro's house for a little while. These are his puppies Anubis is the black and white and brown one, and Narcissus is the grey one. They are super loving and absolutely cute.
These next few shots are all pictures from Pedro's camera that he uploaded to Facebook and I stole...
This is us with the cars when we stopped to get beer before we went to the creek. I love this picture a lot and I'm not sure why.
Us at the log cabin place. This is a better view of our table and chairs. It was a tree.
All of us at the first restaurant. Except Pedro obviously he's taking the picture.
This is everyone that was at the creek by the waterfall. I think this is my favorite from the whole day!
