so much to do so little time...

It amazes me that it's always the last few days before a big trip that the stress of traveling sets in. I've been sitting around just coasting for the past like 3 weeks thinking of all the things I need to do and wishing I could get them done. The only problem was they were all things that couldn't be done until crunch time.

Welcome to crunch time.

While at work on a less than busy Sunday night I started a to do list. This list became unmanagable and hard to read so I decided to break it up by day. I now have a small piece of paper with the longest list ever of things that need to be done in the next few days. It's like these next fifteen or twenty minutes while I'm writing this and unwinding from my less than busy Sunday night are the last free moments I'll get this week. And I've got like 5 shows to watch on my DVR.

Why is it that no matter how well I plan something out I wait until the last minute to actually do anything?

I mean yes I've got my passport, plane tickets, and all the stuff I need to actually make this trip to Mexico... But I feel like I've not even started doing all the things that need to be done.

Maybe I work better under pressure? Or maybe I'm just lazy? I'm not really sure which it is but after talking to Jose this past week and seeing all the things he's been doing to get ready for me to come I'm starting to wonder why I feel like I haven't done anything.

So for anyone whose interested this is everything that must be done this week, and no I'm not going to break it up into days.

1. Go to the bank to order pesos, deposit this weeks tips, pick up pesos.
2. laundry
3. clean my apartment
4. buy necessary items (toiletries) that I'm almost out of and some sort of home for them.
5. go to the pawn shop (long story about a necklace I don't want that's worth money)
6. Pay the bills that will be due while I'm gone
7. charge all electronics
8. dye my hair
9. pack
10. unwrap the presents I've already wrapped and find gift bags to take with me to put them in
11. Study my spanish and get my notebook up to date to study on the plane
12. prepare my cat for 2 weeks at my parents.
13. get a present for Jose's mom

13 things to do and I also have to work 4 days and find time to eat and sleep and things like that in between.

For some reason seeing them in the little box that I write these blog entries in has made my list feel smaller and more manageable than it did like 5 hours ago. That fact excites me a little.
I suppose I should have also thrown in there the fact that I'd like to bag and back the twenty or so comics that are piled on top of my comic box, and I have a couple friends who want to hang out before I leave. I also have to spend 5 hours in a car going back to Detroit, and spend some time with my family.

But the pay off will be totally worth it. Two whole weeks with my boyfriend in the warm and sunny city of Oaxaca. The place that will no longer just be a name on a map that's hanging on my fridge.

Oh yeah, did I mention, I leave in 1 week.
