So now what?

Well, it's been a week since I returned to my boring little life in the states. It's been a week and I've attempted to accomplish a lot of things to get my life on the right track. I've prepared to start stock piling my money. I'm thinking about how to downsize my life. What I should sell or store and what I can bring with me.
The hardest part at this point is trying to figure out when I'm going to move, and how. Obviously I will fly down to Oaxaca but what all will I bring, how will I pack it?
This past week I've brought myself so many questions that I'm not sure how to answer.
In my quest for knowledge I have again brought myself to this here Internet of ours and sadly I continue to find little information or advice for someone in my specific situation. If you're planning on retiring to a foreign country there is information in buckets. If you want to work in a foreign country, there is still at least a bucket of information. If you're 28 years old and single, no kids, no savings or trust fund, and at the current moment no job prospects other than to hopefully write a whole lot and convince someone to pay me for it. So what do I do? I don't need to rent a home (as of this moment), or move a whole lot of furniture or possessions.
I've read here and there that I should speak with the American consulate about my desire to move to Mexico. My thought is, what can they really tell me about another countries policies? I'm sure they have a lot of information from their end on moving into the U.S. but I don't trust that they'll have  much information on how to move out of the U.S. I mean isn't part of their job to keep the people happy and in the country?
I opted the other day to attempt contact with the Mexican consulate in Detroit. Thinking they could at least give me an idea of what they will require from me to move to their country. I sent an e-mail to the address I found on their website explaining that I am a single American woman and am looking for more information on visas.  That was Tuesday or Wednesday, it's now the following Monday and I have not received a response. Now I'm back to square one. So It's looking like I'll have to find all my information on my own.
It shouldn't be that hard. I obtained a high school degree doing correspondence classes and basically taught myself... How hard can getting a visa and moving to a foreign country be?
Cake walk.
